And what a feat of endurance! Exactly seven days earlier Sensei Campora was with students at Shihan Marty Petrovich’s Kyokushin-Kan Open Karate Tournament in Maine, having driven all the way from southern Florida to support his students who wanted to compete!

At Budo Karate West, we are just a matter of days away from having an option exist where users, such as any delegated student from Sensei Campora’s dojo (or any other dojo) can publish their own photographs,  video clips, and news stories like this one, right here on Budo Karate West. Please stay tuned. Although these photos were borrowed from Sensei Campora’s facebook page, in the next week or so, you’ll see Budo Karate West’s general appearance change, and with it will be an option by which any user can contribute material about Kyokushin in the world, Kyokushin in America, or any Kyokushin-KAN material that presents Mas Oyama’s karate, or Kyokushin-Kan in a positive light. We look forward to sharing this ablity with others in the Kyokushin Community in the West, or anywhere in the English-speaking world.

  1. Hello sensei Ligo my son is Kai Vossen we traveled
To Maine for him to compete. He was a
Student of goju ryu for five years before
Joining Kyokushin karate two years ago.
My wife and I are committed to travel to as many tournaments as possible. Kai loves the kumite. But needs to work on his cardio. My oldest son joined a couple of months ago. He might be ready to compete in October in the adult division. Maybe we’ll see you again at the next event!

  2. Hi Mike,

Thanks for your wonderful support of your son, his dojo, and Kyokushin-kan. I re-watched that fight, and had forgotten that Kai got waza-ari for a high kick right at the start of the match. Yes, he was technically superior, but needs sit-ups to strengthen his midsection. Good news about your other son. I look forward to seeing you at future events. Perhaps I will actually be visiting your dojo in Florida soon.

    Sincerely, Nathan Ligo
